Music Educator, Sandi Wilson is an internationally recognized and three-time Music Educator Grammy Award© nominee (currently a quarterfinalist in the running for the 2024 Music Educator Grammy Award), a TedX speaker, clinician, adjudicator, and musician. For more than a decade, this award winning music educator, musician, and clinician has excelled in the field of strings, vocal, and mindfulness music education.
Originally from North Carolina, Wilson began studying music at the age of four and continued with her studies to receive her Bachelor's in Music from the University of North Carolina in Charlotte. She has since continued her studies in Colorado through the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs and plans to continue to further her education with ambitions for a Doctoral Degree.
Since Wilson began her teaching career fourteen years ago, she has built six different music programs from the ground up in various private, public, and charter schools in North Carolina and Colorado, including her new modern orchestra program based in Asheville at the Franklin School of Innovation which introduces an entirely new approach or ensemble work. Mrs. Wilson has, and continues, to teach everything from K-12 general music, to collegiate level A Cappella groups and semi professional chamber strings groups, to mindfulness practices for musicians. She has founded and directed her own youth orchestras and A Cappella groups throughout North Carolina, which have all performed at professional sporting events such as NBA games, NHL games, and multiple performances at D1 colleges in North Carolina and Colorado.
She, as a violinist and vocalist, has performed countless solo performances, weddings, corporate events, lead master classes, and done studio recordings where she has had the privilege of working with various local and mainstream recording artists as a studio musician and a contracted artist. She has also performed with the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, Charlotte Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Pikes Peaks Philharmonic.
Mrs. Wilson’s background expands beyond orchestral and vocal music, but also to theatre and multicultural music and dance.
As an actress and musical director, she has performed/directed 30+shows including collaborating as musical director with playwright Jeff Donnelly on three original musicals they debuted together in North Carolina.
Her multicultural music studies took her to study various styles of Latin, African, and Indian dance. She has choreographed multiple dances and taught and performed them alongside multi-lingual music performances with K-12 students for local, state, and international heritage festivals.
As a coach and athlete, she is a former competition swimmer and cheerleader who has coached at the varsity and collegiate level as well as with elite private teams and organizations. She has coached award winning teams who have been top placers in various state and national level competitions.
